7.2 - Disciplinary Action
The Los Santos Police Department Office of the Chief and Office of the Commander reserve the right to relieve members of certain duties for policy violations when demotion of rank is deemed necessary. Both offices reserve the right to demote Officers for misconduct or actions not in line with the standards set forward in this SOP. The Los Santos Police Department Offices of Administration reserve the right to remove members from the Los Santos Police Department if they believe the actions of the Officer in question warrant removal. Removal requires a vote among all department heads, and the vote must be in majority for removal. This vote shall be documented and individuals may opt to publish a statement explaining their vote. If at least 4 department heads are not available to convene on the issue, the next lowest available rank may be called upon by the Office of the Chief, or the Office of the Commander to vote regarding removal. The Office of the Chief must approve and finalize the removal of members. Officers will normally be issued strikes for misconduct when formally counselled by supervisors or chain of command. Officers who acquire 3 strikes shall be considered for demotion or even removal from the department. Department Administration has the right to waive the 3 strike period depending on the severity of the issue presented. Officers involved in an investigation regardless of nature shall not disclose any information regarding the investigation. Officers found in violation of this rule shall be issued a strike and marked ineligible for promotion until the next month. If this causes the number of strikes to equal 4, the member will be removed from the department by default by The Office of the Commander or The Office of the Chief. This requirement may be waived by a majority vote to retain the Officer by the Office of the Chief. Any Officer who has been striked during a period of consideration for promotion or that is the accused party of an ongoing investigation for misconduct or violation of procedure will not be promoted to the next pay grade until that matter is resolved. Blacklists may be issued by a Commander+, Colonels can also issue blacklists with the Approval of their Commander or a member of the Chief's Office provided they have legitimate reason to believe that they would not be up to LSPD standards and have the ability to act in a mature, respectful and professional manner.
